Spring Art Show and Art Changeout

Thank You to Everyone Who Attended Last Night’s Meeting

Inga Strause-Godejord gave a very interesting and informative demonstration of silk scarf painting – with much invited audience participation. A raffle of one of Inga’s beautiful scarves was held, and Ms. Helen Stoll was the happy winner!

Creative Challenge

We are reviving our Creative Challenge, with a few modifications. All members are invited to produce a piece of art that conforms to the current theme. You have two months to work on this, so no pressure. The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate at our November meeting. Our first theme is “Connections”.

“Mini Masterpieces” Are Back

Another return this year is our “Mini Masterpieces.” These are small canvases, either 8 x 8″ or 12 x 12″, painted with your choice of subject and in your chosen medium. They are to be sold at the Fall Art Show (see below). The proceeds from these sales go toward our scholarship fund for a Lone Star art student in December. If you are interested, contact Becky Hall at rebecca.hall44@gmail.com. Becky also has a supply of small canvases available at a very low price.

Art Changeout at Skero’s

We will be changing out the art on display at Skero’s Furniture Store on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Any paid member who helps us as a volunteer is welcome to bring 2-3 pieces of art to hang on our own wall at Skero’s. Please make sure that your art is ready to hang, with picture wire installed. All skill levels are welcome. Come help, chat with your fellow artists, and make sure your work is well displayed. We have sold work at this location in the past, so this is a valuable opportunity to attract the public’s notice!

Fall 2022 Art Show and Competition

Our Fall Art Show will be on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Kingwood Community Center. Our judge for this show will be Kathleen Wagner. See the Prospectus for further details, and for rules and guidelines. A copy of our Show Poster can be found here. Feel free to print it out and distribute it to all interested parties, as well as businesses in the area.
In addition to show entries, we will be offering a gallery for other art works that our members would like to display. These can be any art, no matter how old, that you would like to show to the public. The pieces in the gallery may be for sale, but the sale can’t take place in the Community Center. So please furnish artist contact information so that prospective buyers can get in touch with you.
In order to participate in the art show you must be a paid LHAA or LSAG member. This is the time to pay your membership fees. We have a button on our website to let you fill out the membership form and pay online ($43). You may also bring your fees to our next meeting on October 18.
