April Demo Artist Will Be Our Own President, Debra Jones – Pastels
Debra studied fine art painting at the Baton Rouge Academy of Fine Arts. Shortly after, she moved to Washington State where she painted and taught for 23 years. She taught art at elementary and middle school levels for 10 years and opened her own art school where she taught privately for another 15 years before retiring and returning to Texas. These days she mostly focuses on watercolor, pastels, and colored pencils. She is a firm believer that when it comes to art, we learn by doing and is open to any new experience in painting. She invites you to adopt her own personal motto – Don’t Be Afraid To Be Bold!
Reminder:
On Sunday, April 15 we will be changing out the art hanging at the Kingwood Hospital Rehab Unit, Building A. Community Art Relations Chair Lynda Feierabend will be at the side door of the building at 1:00 p.m. to receive your art and to direct you.
Each artist is limited to two pieces for hanging at this location. If you already have art there, you may want to change what pieces you have on display or remove anything over your allotted two pieces.
If you have helped LHAA with any event or activity this year you are eligible to hang your art with us. Helping us with the art change-out on Sunday counts!
It’s Show Time
Reminder to all Members
Spring is here, or it was (what’s with these cold temperatures), and that means that our spring show is rapidly approaching. Our show is Saturday, April 28th at the Kingwood Community Center.
The last day for entries to be received in the database, no exceptions, is through midnight Wednesday, April 25th. Payment for the entries is due the day of the show at art work check in, which is Saturday April 28th, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Please see the attached prospectus for details on entries and the timeline of the show.
Please see our website for online entry instructions. It is at: www.lakehoustonareaartists.com under shows and competitions, then “instructions for registration”.
Also please see the attached poster for the show. Please forward this to your family and friends and encourage them to come view the show.
If you are a past member and are not a current paid member, you are no longer in the LSAG database and will not be able to access the database. Please get your membership dues in immediately if you plan to be in the show.
We must receive payment no later than Saturday, April 21st to add you back into the database. This would apply to any prospective new members as well.
Our next monthly meeting, Tuesday, April 17th would be the perfect opportunity to renew your membership and see a great demo artist!
We are very excited to be in our new location at the Kingwood Community Center and are looking forward to a fun and productive show!
