To All Ribbon Winners in our Spring 2019 Show
Lone Star Convention and Expo Center
9055 Airport Road
Conroe, TX 77303
Our Spring Show regular entry price will be in effect until midnight tonight, Wednesday, April 24, 2019. After that no more entries will be accepted.
The deadline for entry into the show is Monday, April 22, with late entries permitted until Wednesday, April 24. Absolutely no entries accepted after Wednesday!
An extra exciting news item – Jennifer Wooden from the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center will be attending our show! She wants to see examples of our work before we display them at the Center (date TBD). So lets show her our best! Even if you are not entering the show, be sure to bring in something for the gallery presentation, which will be in the same room as show entries. Bring in as many pieces as you want to the gallery.
You do not need to pre-register or pay in order to display your work in the gallery – just be a paid member who has helped (or is helping) us. Gallery art will be displayed on the same kind of boards as the show entries, so they DO need to be ready to hang – with wire hangers (not the toothed hangers). Be sure to include a paper with your name, email, phone number, and any other contact information you want to include.
Early school board voting will be going on at the Kingwood Community Center that day as well, so we have the potential to bring in a lot more visitors!
There are still plenty of small jobs available if you want to help out at the show. Be sure to check for openings when you bring in your art. See you next Saturday!

I want my art to be something you feel, you experience, you desire. When I paint I get lost in the moment. I cannot explain it. To create something new and original is a beautiful feeling. I hope you are touched by my art. That is my greatest hope.
I started drawing when I was 8 years old. I have always loved to draw animals and nature. I painted murals in acrylics in Houston beginning in 1995 and then began exploring other mediums such as alcohol inks and watercolors. I took private lessons in Houston and joined an artists group. I traveled to Italy in 2012 and took many photos of the wonderful vineyards, visited the historic museums, viewed David by Michelangelo, which had been my lifelong dream. In 2014 my company transferred me to beautiful Alaska. The nature and wonder of Alaska have inspired be beyond my wildest dreams. My artwork has been auctioned at United Way Events and the Anchorage Go Red for Women for heart disease and stroke. While in Alaska I took watercolor lessons from Don Kolstad and alcohol ink lessons from Francine Dufour Jones. I also took acrylic painting lessons from Jennifer Bowman. I started giving private and group lessons in Alcohol Ink painting in 2014. In December 2015 I moved back to Texas and started a new session on birds of the world. One of my favorite artists is the incredible John J. Audobon, ornithologist and artist. You can also see my art at The Copper Shade Tree in Round Top, Texas; The Art Cellar in Houston; Turnagain Gallery in Bird, Alaska and The Dancing Leaf Gallery in Talkeetna, Alaska.
In 2018 I won Artist of the Year for my painting of a Nuthatch called “Into the Storm”. Humbled and honored!
Our Spring Art Show and Competition is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2019. If you plan to enter your artwork, registration is open now. Remember also that you must be a paid member to enter. Be sure your membership is paid by Monday, April 22.
Also, we will have a gallery show at the same time, as we did at the Fall Show. If you have any other artwork that you would like to display, please bring it at the same time as your show entries, along with a 8 1/2 by 11 inch page with your name and contact information for anyone who is interested in buying.
Deadline for Show Entries: Monday, April 22, 2019
Late Entries accepted through Wednesday, April 24, 2019
All Artists MUST pre-register through the LSAG database, no walk-ins accepted.

Please DO NOT bring your art to the tour of the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center on Thursday, April 11! This tour is meant to give us a look at the place where our art will be hanging. Someone else’s art is there now. We can better visualize this way how our own paintings will look. We will find out later when we can bring pictures for display.

Dr. Nunnery is moving to a new location, so we need to remove all our art from there for the time being. Thursday, April 18 at 1:45 p.m. is the day for you to come in to get your paintings. Dr. Nunnery will let us know if we can bring our pieces back, sometime in June. Please complete your removal before 4:00 p.m. on that day.

The newly re-opened Lake Houston YMCA has offered us an incredible opportunity! Starting in May, LHAA will be teaching art classes for children at the Y! Our own Joel Salmons, who has taught with the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., has complete lesson plans for teaching different age groups of children. The classes will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings (one group on each day) for about an hour each. We need some volunteers to help with the teaching. Any amount of time on any of the three days is appreciated. The lesson plans are great, and the classes should be a lot of fun. For further information, contact Joel Salmons at:
