Demo Artist:  Fran Ellisor – Oils

Fran Ellisor’s classic and eloquent style of painting is sure to capture your heart. Her paintings have won numerous awards in national as well as regional shows. Her paintings are highly collected. She is represented in corporate and private collections in the U. S. and abroad.  Fran paints on location outdoors or from life about half of the time.

Fran Ellisor has been painting the landscape professionally for over twenty years. She spends much of her time painting outdoors on location and working from life. Her style is a painterly realism; her strokes are confident yet spontaneous; her colors are clean and fresh. She is an accomplished figure and portrait painter and is known for her intimate, elegant still lifes.

The subjects of Fran’s paintings come from her life and surroundings. She has carried her paintbox from Alaska to Mexico and Guatemala, across the United States and to Spain, France, Italy and Greece. She includes these areas from around the world in her works.

It’s not unusual to find this Impressionist painter along one of Texas backroads or creeks, painting what she sees, expressing what she loves. The Texas landscape plays an important role in her paintings including the Hill Country, desert mountains of West Texas, and from the piney woods of East Texas to the lush tropical seaside of the Gulf Coastal areas. You’ll likely see her painting anywhere she finds beauty and interesting subjects.

Our Spring Art Show and Competition Will Be Saturday, April 25, 2020

Art Exhibition Opportunity

On Saturday, November 23, 2019, LHAA will be exhibiting paintings at the Kingwood Garden Center.  Participating artists are invited to bring in two paintings each, plus a “spare” to show and offer for sale.  The show will be from 11:00 am. to 2:00 pm, and exhibiting artists are urged to stay for the entire three hours to make sales and to be responsible for their art.  A 25% commission will be charged on each sale.

Volunteers from previous shows have priority at the exhibition, but if you would like to hang your art here, check with Lynda Feierabend,  lynda226@aol.com to see if there are still openings.  Or speak to Lynda at our upcoming meeting.

December Scholarship Luncheon

Instead of a regular meeting in December we will be having a luncheon at a local restaurant in order to present our annual art scholarship check to our chosen Lone Star College art student.  The luncheon will be on December 9, 10, or 11, depending on the chosen restaurant.  If you have an interest in attending, please let us know at the upcoming meeting so that we can finalize our plans.

Upcoming Exhibitions

In December of 2019 we will also be hanging our art at the office of a local doctor.  Specific date to be determined later.  If you are interested in this display opportunity, contact Lynda Feierabend, either by email (see above) or at the meeting.

We are also planning an exhibition of art at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in August of 2020.  Contact Vanita Doyle (doylevanita@gmail.com) for further information.

Fall Art Show Recap

Thanks to everyone who participated in and/or attended our fall show last Saturday. Hopefully our new and returning participants all had a pleasurable experience.  Special thanks to all who helped with the show in any way such as with moving panels, show set up, take down, art work check in, hospitality, etc.  Also special thanks to our judge, Golda Rader, who really took the time to explain her decision process on the ribbon winners.

NotThisPig
Congratulations to our best of show winner, Linney Hamilton, with her beautiful mixed media painting titled “Not this Pig!”.  Congratulations to all of our other ribbon winners as well.  All best of show, first place, second place, third place and first honorable mention winners are eligible to advance to the LSAG regional competition that will be held this summer in Conroe.
The database has been updated with the judging results.  LSAG does not track regular honorable mentions; so, if you received a green ribbon, it will not be reflected in the database.
If you missed the fall show, we just got the dates for our spring show.  It will be held Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Kingwood Community Center.  We hope that you will be able to participate!
