Art Show Deadline Wednesday, April 27

Entries Due By Midnight, Wednesday, April 27, 2022

The show deadline is rapidly approaching.  You must get your entries into the database by Wednesday, April 27th midnight.  If you do not have access to the database or need help with the database, please contact Amy Conroy at amymcleod.conroy@gmail.com

Also, please remember that we will have a gallery show at the same time as the judged show.    It is an opportunity to display your artwork without the rules and stress of the judged show.  Your artwork can be older than 2 years old and it can be a print, an original or studio fine craft, including jewelry.  You may include your contact information and attach business cards, etc. with your work, but you may not include a price.  If someone is interested in purchasing your artwork, you can sort out the details in the parking lot or at a later date.  We are not allowed to sell our work inside the Kingwood Community Center.

Listed below are the different volunteer opportunities at the show, and who has signed up for them.  If you did not sign up, but are interested in helping, you still can by letting us know where you would like to help.

Demo Artist for February – Art Talk

This month our demo artist will be our own Joel Salmons, giving an art talk on William Merrit Chase. Joel gives regular art talks for adults at the Lake Houston YMCA.

Joel Salmons

I am an American artist. I was raised in Texas, New Mexico, and California. The great Southwest
of my youth provides background, color, myth, and legend which informs my artistic
consciousness. I am a third generation Sam Houston State University graduate with a degree in
Art Education and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant from the Universities US Army
Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC). As fate would have ROTC turned out to be the
breadwinner and after a whirlwind forty plus years career later I retired from the Pentagon and
wanted to get back to art. I applied for and got my dream retirement job as an art educator at the
National Gallery of Art in Washington DC where I have been educating for the last five years.
My art is recognized regionally and I’m on the board of Lake Houston Area Artist Art Guild.

Future General Meetings

The general meeting for March 2022 will be – barring unforeseen circumstances – live! Arrangements are being made to go back to having our meetings at Homewood Suites in Kingwood. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in the evening. We will send out more specific instructions closer to the event.

Unless otherwise specified, future general meetings will also be live at Homewood Suites.

Spring 2022 Art Show and Competition

We are planning to go back to a live Art Show in April. The tentative date is Saturday, April 30, 2022. Location is TBD. Stay tuned – an announcement will be forthcoming.

Skero’s Art Display

We changed the art hanging at Skero’s Furniture Store in late January. The next changeout will be sometime in April. We will let you know the exact date as soon as possible. Remember that any paid LHAA member is eligible to display their art at one of our locations. Feel free to drop by and look at the art that is on the wall there now!
