November General Meeting

The Prez Sez

Our Fall Show was fabulous, as usual.  A big THANK YOU goes out to Amy Conroy and Becky Hall and all the member volunteers who made it happen.  I hope you are all thinking about (and painting) the small canvases that have been such a success.  And it’s not too early to be planning and painting your next masterpiece for the Spring Show. Check out our website for any information you need on upcoming shows and other activities and events happening for the group.

Don’t forget the Newsletter has also been incorporated into the website.  So if you have a question about the next meeting date, need show info, want to see pictures of the winners of the Monthly Challenge or any other questions about our group, please check the website.  If you will click on the Follow button, you’ll receive an email letting you know that new things have been added.  The website is now a great tool to help all the members keep up to date with what’s happening.  Be sure you check it out – LakeHoustonAreaArtists.com

Demo for November – Mark Stewart, in Watercolor

Drawing has been a central part of Mark Stewart’s life from a very early age. In high school his natural gift led him to a drafting class and from there to Architecture while at Texas A&M University. It was there in the mid 70’s that Mark began to paint, experimenting with watercolor technique and closely studying the work of Winslow HomerAndrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper. He graduated from A&M in 1975 with a master’s degree in Architecture and a serious commitment to his artistic avocation of watercolor painting.

A Message About the Fall Art Show

Thank you, everyone who braved the dire weather predictions and the rain and came out to the Fall Show!  The quality of the art work was incredible!  And we think a good time was had by all!  Congratulations to our best of show winner, Gridtiya Chotiwan, and all of our other ribbon winners!

Scaling up or down – Place photo to be scaled up in lower left corner of paper.  Place ruler diagonally across photo onto paper and place new corner point along ruler at desired size.  Then draw horizontal and vertical lines to point of new corner.  Grid photo and paper and draw an enlarged proportional image onto paper.

See you all on the 17th!
