Demonstration:
The demonstration artists for February is Peggy Kingsbury, who is accomplished in painting in oils. Peggy says: A native Texan, I hold an associate’s degree in fine art. In the early 1990s I started selling in galleries while working in the corporate world. I have happily painted full time since 1888. Initially a Sunday/hobby, I found the activity grabbed my heart and I was hooked. Working hard to learn sound principles of making art, I polished drawing skills, learned the intricacy and complexity of color, and was amazed at the importance of shapes, edges, and composition. The hard work is a small price to pay. I paint because I have developed an enhanced way of seeing, because of the awe-inspiring quantity of amount that there is to learn, and because of the camaraderie and encouragement of other artists. I credit amazing instructors and the exploring of the world of painting with good friends as my primary inspiration.

Each year LHAA awards a scholarship to a deserving art student at Lone Star College – Kingwood. This year’s winner is Hunter Landrum. Extremely talented and versed in many techniques, it was a unanimous decision by the scholarship committee that she should win.
She was presented with the award on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at our Holiday Dinner hosted by Cafe du Bois. It was a wonderful night for everyone!
Congratulations Hunter!
