Work On Your Art While Discussing Art

This month, in lieu of a demo artist, bring in an art project that you can work on while we have a question-and-answer session about various art topics, such as pricing your art. We can have a show-and-tell segment, too. Show us what you’re working on, and if you want advice on its completion, we can help you out! We can also supply much admiration, appreciation, and encouragement!

December General Meeting

Our December General Meeting will be on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Strawbridge United Methodist Church at 6:00 p.m. We will be having our annual Scholarship Award Presentation and dinner. This year’s dinner will be a potluck, so we hope everyone will be bringing something delicious! There will be a sign-up sheet at the November meeting, so if you haven’t yet committed to contributing, sign up at the meeting! Particularly appreciated will be desserts and salads.

Library Art Changeout

The art on display at the Kingwood Public Library will be changed out in January. Further details to come. The current wall display has been very popular, and we hope to come up with another eye-catching presentation! As always, all paid members are eligible to show their art with us.

Look Book

We STILL need artists to help us fill out our Look Book! With an up-to-date Look Book we can approach local potential display locations to show our work to more people. Write a short artist bio and send 4-5 high-res pictures of your art to sheilabucchinoart@yahoo.com.

Membership Dues

It’s that time again. Membership dues for 2025/26 are due. You can pay in cash, Paypal (with a small fee), or via Zelle with a QR code (no fee). Dues are $50 for adults, $10 for students.

September Demo and Workshop With Greg Livingston

Greg will be teaching us scratchboard at our meeting. He will bring some high contrast photos that we can work with, or feel free to bring your own. They should be high contrast, preferably black and white.

Participants will be supplied with scratchboards, styluses, and tracing paper. If you have your own etching tools, by all means bring them.

Show & Tell!

Please bring your show and tell, any pieces you wish to show us!

Creative Challenge

We will be issuing our Fall Creative Challenge at the meeting. It will be due in November!

Art Supply Swap and Sell

If you are ready to let go of any art supplies and art related items, bring them to the meeting to sell, swap or give away! It’s a great time to purge your workspace of items you wish could find new homes. Bring paints, brushes, pens, paper, canvases, books, magazines, and other supplies that might be of use to someone else.

Ask-it Basket

We will also hold a Q&A. This is a great time to ask questions related to art and get feedback from the group as a whole. Any remaining questions will be held until a later meeting when we offer the Q&A again.

Library Art Changeout – Kingwood Public Library

Our next changeout of the art displayed at Kingwood Public Library is expected to be Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

We are asking willing artists to bring examples of their early work to display. We would like to show where our artists started and how they’ve improved over the years. Please bring 1 or 2 early works along with 1 or 2 newer works that spotlight progress.

As always, any paid member can also bring some pieces of art to share. Be sure that it is completely ready to hang, with picture wire on the back. Bring a piece of your early work to show your growth as an artist!

Look Book

We STILL need artists to help us fill out our Look Book! With an up-to-date Look Book we can approach local potential display locations to show our work to more people. Write a short artist bio and send 4-5 high-res pictures of your art to sheilabucchinoart@yahoo.com.

July 2025 General Meeting

This will be the second of our new summertime informal workshop meetings. June’s meeting was a lot of fun, and we learned a lot about printing our own small images. We hope you will enjoy this one as much!

Our General Meeting for July Will Focus on Portraiture

Note: The meeting will be in Room 207 upstairs this month, as the Great Hall is being renovated. When you reach the office door, sign in, take the elevator up, and turn left.

6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Meet and Greet
6:30 p.m. Meeting begins

Linney Hamilton will be conducting this workshop, showing us how she creates a portrait. She will be working from a photograph, so please bring a photograph of your own to work from. It should be a head-and-shoulders picture with plenty of shadows on the face to give it interest (so no professional portraits).

Also, bring whatever materials you want to work with – pencils, charcoal, pastels watercolor, etc. You will need a surface to work on, and if you are using water media, please bring a dropcloth.

Look Book – Second Call!

We are always on the lookout for new places to display our members’ beautiful art. In connection with that search, we want to put together a “Look Book”, in which the proprietors of display areas can see a sample of the kind of art that they can expect to see. We are asking anyone who might want to offer their artwork for display to the public is asked to submit one page about themselves.
For your page, please send us an email with your full name, email, website, phone, etc. Also, we would like a photo of you, a brief Artist Bio, and 3 – 6 good quality images of some of your work. Send your email to: sheilabucchinoart@yahoo.com
Sheila will arrange your information in a format that looks similar to the one below, and she will keep the pages in our Look Book.
