Our Mission

The Mission of the Lake Houston Area Artists is to encourage artistic development of local professional and amateur artists and cultivate an appreciation of the visual arts through education, exhibition and community outreach.

Lake Houston Area Artists is organized and operated for education, pleasure, recreation, and other nonprofit purposes; no part of the net earnings goes to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual.

Monthly Meetings

Each meeting begins with a short business discussion, followed by a demonstration by an artist in a specific medium. After the demonstration, the meeting concludes with our Artwork Show & Tell. There will also be creative challenge opportunities throughout the season.

Our December meeting departs from our standard format above. The December meeting is a festive holiday luncheon at a local restaurant where we present an award to our Lone Star College Art Scholarship recipient.

Art Shows

LHAA sponsors two local judged art shows each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. All LHAA members are encouraged to participate in our shows. Participation in the show is limited to our members and other LSAG members. Information and entry forms are available online and at our monthly meetings. Winners from our show (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 1st honorable mention) are eligible to enter the annual LSAG show.

Public Viewing Exposure

We actively seek places to display our artwork in local establishments, and LHAA members who volunteer for our group will be invited to participate in these opportunities.

LSAG Membership and Shows

Membership in LHAA includes membership in LSAG or the Lone Star Art Guild. The LSAG is an umbrella organization made up of 18 independent art leagues located within a 200 mile radius of Houston, Texas. Each year an annual convention is held where the winners of all the local member art club shows come together and compete in the LSAG show. More information can be found at LoneStarArtGuild.org

Dues

The dues are $50 for the season for regular members, and $10 for students.
